	This fiscal note assumes current legislative staff will have to respond to requests for records, working papers, drafts and interoffice and intraoffice memoranda during the legislative session and during the interim when the Legislature is not in session. The amendment allows a person to request such records during the legislative session and requires the Legislature to respond to such requests as soon as practicable without affecting the work of the Legislature and within existing resources. The ultimate impact on the work of the Legislature of such requests made during the session will depend on the amount and complexity of the requests and therefore cannot be determined at this time. The fiscal note further assumes the requestor will pay for any costs incurred to produce the records in accordance with Title 1 §408-A of the Maine Revised Statutes.
