The bill requires
the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to establish and oversee a program for
the safe collection of expired marine flares, including the designation of
fire inspectors to collect expired marine flares from commercial fishermen
and recreational boaters who inform the DPS of expired marine flares in need
of disposal. The DPS will also engage in an educational program about the
collection and disposal program and maintain a publicly accessable website.
No funding for the program or for disposal and incineration capability was
provided in the bill and the impact on other programs and services within the
DPS cannot be determined at this time. |
|
Any additional
costs to the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, the
Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the Department of Marine
Resources and the Department of Environmental Protection as a result of the
provisions of this bill are anticipated to be minor and can be absorbed
within existing budgeted resources. |
