Establishing a
new paid state holiday means that state departments and agencies that require
staffing 24 hours a day will need to give employees time off on another day
or pay overtime for work on the new holiday. Assuming that other time off can
be arranged, any costs will be minor and can be absorbed within existing
resources. |
