Amend the bill in section 1 in subsection 1 in the 3rd line (page 1, line 6 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " and one nonvoting member"

Amend the bill in section 1 in subsection 1 by striking out all of paragraph H (page 1, lines 35 and 36 in L.D.) and inserting the following:

H One member who has a demonstrated knowledge of biological science and, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree. The commissioner shall make a reasonable effort to appoint a member who has at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Amend the bill by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

This amendment changes the member of the Shellfish Advisory Council with a demonstrated knowledge of biological science from a nonvoting member, as proposed in the bill, to a voting member. It also requires the Commissioner of Marine Resources to make a reasonable effort to appoint as this member a person who has a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
