An Act To Provide Consistent Data Regarding Education Funding
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §255, sub-§5, ¶C, as enacted by PL 1981, c. 693, §§5 and 8, is amended to read:
C. Disseminate this information by outlines, suggestions and directions concerning the management, discipline and methods employed in teaching to teachers and school officers of the State; and
Sec. 2. 20-A MRSA §255, sub-§5, ¶D, as amended by PL 1983, c. 859, Pt. B, §§2 and 4, is further amended to read:
D. Do all in the commissioner's power to awaken and sustain an interest in education among the people and to stimulate school officers, teachers and other educational personnel to well directed efforts in their work . ; and
Sec. 3. 20-A MRSA §255, sub-§5, ¶E is enacted to read:
E. Annually post on the department's publicly accessible website statewide historical financial data on the State's education funding. The data must be organized to allow for ease and consistency in comparing categories from year to year for a period of no less than 10 years and must include appropriate annotations to reflect changes in calculation methodology and statute or other anomalies affecting comparative outcomes.
