The general
operating expenses of this study are projected to be $1,250 in fiscal year
2017-18. The Legislature's proposed budget includes $10,000 in fiscal year
2017-18 for legislative studies. Whether this amounts is sufficient to fund
all studies will depend on the number of studies authorized by the
Legislative Council and the Legislature. No additional funding is assumed for
the expenses of non-legislative members of the commission. The additional
costs of providing staffing assistance to the study during the interim can be
absorbed utilizing existing budgeted staff resources. |

Any additional
costs to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to take part in a
commission studying the production of salmonid sport fish are anticipated to
be minor and can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. It is noted
that the provisions of the bill prohibiting expenditures over $150,000 to
repair or upgrade salmonid fish hatcheries until the commission reports its
findings conflict with allocations authorized in PL 2017, Chapter 2, to
construct water supply pipelines and update water treatment at the Casco and
Grand Lake Stream fish hatcheries. |
