The general
operating expenses for two legislators to participate in this study are
projected to be $1,250 in fiscal year 2017-18. The Legislature's proposed budget includes
$10,000 in fiscal year 2017-18 for legislative studies. Whether this amount is sufficient to fund
all studies will depend on the number of studies authorized by the
Legislative Council and the Legislature.
The additional costs of providing staffing assistance to the study
during the interim can be absorbed utilizing existing budgeted staff
resources. |

Any additional
costs to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for participating in
the Commission to Simplify Maine's Fishing Rules to review fishing laws and
rules are expected to be minor and can be absorbed within existing budgeted
resources. The estimated fiscal impact
on the Legislature's budget does not assume reimbursement of expenses for
members of the Commission who are not legislators. |
