Amend the resolve by striking out all of the 2nd indented paragraph after the title (page 1, lines 3 to 6 in L.D.) and inserting the following:
Whereas, ‘this resolve establishes the Task Force To Examine Agricultural Issues to study the effect that the consolidation of the former Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources and the former Department of Conservation has had on agricultural issues in this State; and’
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 1 in the first 2 lines (page 1, lines 19 and 20 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "including members" and inserting the following: 'to include a member'
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 2 in the 2nd line (page 1, line 24 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "including members" and inserting the following: 'to include a member'
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 5 in the first line (page 1, line 31 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "Two public members" and inserting the following: 'One public member'
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 5 in the last line (page 1, line 34 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "and"
Amend the resolve in section 2 in subsection 6 in the last line (page 1, line 38 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "be it further"
Amend the resolve in section 2 by inserting after subsection 6 the following:
‘7. One public member representing potato farmers appointed by the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall consider any recommendations submitted within 20 days of the effective date of this resolve by the Maine Potato Board regarding persons who have such expertise; and be it further’
Amend the resolve by striking out all of section 5 and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 5. Duties. Resolved: That the task force shall examine the effect the consolidation of the former Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources and the former Department of Conservation has had on agricultural issues in the State; and be it further’
SUMMARY
This amendment, which is the minority report of the committee, focuses the task force's duties on the effect the consolidation of the former Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources and the former Department of Conservation has had on agricultural issues in this State and requires that one of the public members represent potato farmers.
