An Act To Allow Municipalities To Adopt Bus Traffic Ordinances
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §3015 is enacted to read:
§ 3015. Ordinances regarding bus traffic
Notwithstanding Title 29-A, section 2053 or any other provision of law to the contrary, a municipality may adopt an ordinance that requires the operator of a vehicle to yield the right-of-way to a bus. For the purposes of this section, "bus" has the same meaning as in Title 29-A, section 101, subsection 11; "operator" has the same meaning as in Title 29-A, section 101, subsection 48; and "vehicle" has the same meaning as in Title 29-A, section 101, subsection 91.
SUMMARY
This bill allows municipalities to adopt local ordinances requiring vehicle operators to yield the right-of-way to a bus.
