An Act To Increase the Safety of Motorists on Public Ways
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2082, sub-§8 is enacted to read:
8. Obstruction by snow or ice. A person may not operate a motor vehicle with snow or ice on the front windshield or a side wing mirror or side or rear window that obstructs the operator's clear view of the way or an intersecting way. A violation of this subsection is a traffic infraction for which a fine of $175 must be imposed. A fine imposed under this subsection may not be suspended by the court.
SUMMARY
This bill prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle with snow or ice on the front windshield or a side wing mirror or side or rear window that obstructs the operator's clear view of the way or an intersecting way. A violation is subject to a fine of $175.
