Amend the amendment in section 1 by inserting after subsection 2 the following:
‘The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Council established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, section 12004-C, subsection 8, in consultation with other supportive partners, shall host meetings, provide expert consultation services, coordinate stakeholders and provide other support to the department as necessary to accomplish the goals of this section.’
Amend the amendment by striking out all of section 4 and inserting in its place the following:
‘Sec.
4. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides ongoing funds for one half-time Regional Education Representative position and associated All Other costs to serve as the kindergarten to grade 12 computer science liaison to support the implementation of computer science education and the statewide strategic plan for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.

SUMMARY
This amendment requires the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Council, in consultation with other supportive partners, to host the meetings and provide other services associated with creating the statewide plan for computer science. This amendment also eliminates the one-time funds appropriated to the Department of Education for costs associated with developing the statewide plan.
