Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 in the indented paragraph in the 2nd line (page 1, line 7 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " secondary schools" the following: ' in the unit'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 in subsection 1 in the first line (page 1, line 8 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " The department" and inserting the following: ' A school administrative unit'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 in subsection 1 in the 2nd line (page 1, line 9 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " secondary schools" the following: ' in the unit'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 in subsection 2 in the first line (page 1, line 11 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " The department" and inserting the following: ' A school administrative unit'

Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 in subsection 2 in the last 2 lines (page 1, lines 12 and 13 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " as designated by the department"

Amend the bill in section 1 in §6671 by striking out all of subsection 4 and inserting the following:

4 Available funding.   A school administrative unit is required to meet the requirements of this section only if it has received funding specifically for this purpose from federal funding, private funding or other funding sources.

SUMMARY

Committee Amendment "A" provides ongoing funds for the Department of Education to establish a youth mental health first aid training program for health educators in secondary schools. This amendment eliminates that funding and instead requires a school administrative unit, if it receives funding for that purpose, to establish such a program.
