An Act To Protect the Safety of Emergency Medical Services Personnel and Patients
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2011, sub-§2, as enacted by PL 1989, c. 359, is amended to read:
2. Regulation restricted. Except as provided in subsection subsections 3 and 3-A, no political subdivision of the State, including, but not limited to, municipalities, counties, townships and village corporations, may adopt any order, ordinance, rule or regulation concerning the sale, purchase, purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, possession, bearing, transportation, licensing, permitting, registration, taxation or any other matter pertaining to firearms, components, ammunition or supplies.
Sec. 2. 25 MRSA §2011, sub-§3-A is enacted to read:
3-A. Exception for emergency medical services vehicle. This section does not prohibit an order, ordinance, rule or regulation of any political subdivision that prohibits a person from having a firearm in that person's possession while inside an emergency medical services vehicle that is owned or operated by or on behalf of the political subdivision.
