An Act To Require A Person To Notify Law Enforcement Officers of the Possession of a Hypodermic Needle
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §1111-B is enacted to read:
§ 1111-B. Failure to inform law enforcement officer of hypodermic apparatus
1. A person is guilty of failure to inform a law enforcement officer of a hypodermic apparatus if the person has a hypodermic apparatus in possession on the person's body and the person fails to inform a law enforcement officer that the person is in possession of a hypodermic apparatus on the person's body during the course of any arrest, detainment or routine traffic stop of the person.
2. Failure to inform a law enforcement officer of a hypodermic apparatus is a Class D crime.
SUMMARY
This bill makes it a Class D crime for a person to fail to inform a law enforcement officer of the person's possession of a hypodermic apparatus on the person's body during the course of any arrest, detainment or routine traffic stop of the person.
