An Act To Allow 100 Percent Disabled Veterans To Choose the Zone in Which Their Antlerless Deer Permits Are Issued
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11152, sub-§9 is enacted to read:
9. Disabled veterans. A veteran of the United States Armed Forces or the National Guard who has a service-connected disability evaluated at 100% by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or any branch of the United States Armed Forces and who is issued an antlerless deer permit under this section or under section 10851, subsection 1, paragraph D may specify one wildlife management district open to the taking of antlerless deer in which the person wishes to take an antlerless deer. A person who is eligible to specify a wildlife management district under this subsection must be issued the permit in the wildlife management district specified.
SUMMARY
This bill allows a veteran who has a service-connected disability evaluated at 100% by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or any branch of the United States Armed Forces who is issued an antlerless deer permit to choose a wildlife management district in which the person may take an antlerless deer as long as that district is open to the taking of antlerless deer.
