Amend the resolution by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘RESOLUTION, Proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of Maine To Establish the Right To Hunt, Trap and Fish’

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the first line (page 1, line 5 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " hunt," the following: ' trap,'

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the first line (page 1, line 5 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " game" and inserting the following: ' wildlife'

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the 2nd line (page 1, line 6 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " hunt," the following: ' trap,'

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the 2nd line (page 1, line 6 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " game" and inserting the following: ' wildlife'

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the 6th line (page 1, line 10 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " hunting" the following: ' , trapping'

Amend the resolution in that part designated "Constitution, Art. IX, §26" in Section 26 in the 7th line (page 1, line 11 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " hunting" the following: ' , trapping'

Amend the resolution by striking out the referendum question (page 1, lines 21 to 25 in L.D.) and inserting the following:

"Do you favor amending the Constitution of Maine to provide that the right of the people of this State to hunt, trap, fish and harvest wildlife and fish may not be infringed, subject to reasonable laws and rules, and to provide that public hunting, trapping and fishing are a preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife?"

SUMMARY

This amendment, which is the minority report of the committee, references wildlife instead of game and provides that trapping is included in the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife and fish.
