Fiscal Detail
and Notes |
The bill would
increase the salaries of the Governor and members of the Senate and House
beginning January 2019. The increase in salaries for the Legislature is
conditional on approval of a constitutional amendment reducing the size of
the Legislature to 125 members or fewer. |
The additional
General Fund cost of increasing the Governor's salary to $150,000 in January
of 2019, including salary and benefits, is estimated to be $64,567 in fiscal
year 2018-19 and $129,134 annually thereafter beginning in fiscal year
2019-20. |
The estimated
cost for a 25% increase in salaries paid to 125 Legislators would be $559,178
in fiscal year 2018-19. This amount is not reflected in the cost shown above
because it is contingent on the constitutional change. This fiscal note also
does not reflect any projected savings from reducing the size of the
Legislature because that is included in a separate bill.
