Fiscal Detail and Notes
The bill authorizes an upward adjustment of salary schedules in fiscal year 2015-16 for certain law enforcement positions in the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Department of Marine Resources beginning with the pay period closest to May 1, 2016. It provides for the funding of both the General Fund and Highway Fund costs of the bill from the General Fund Salary Plan program within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. The cost to the General Fund Salary Plan is estimated to be $929,322 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $6,032,522 in fiscal year 2016-17. Beginning in fiscal year 2017-18 the higher compensation costs will be funded directly from the General Fund and Highway Fund. This estimate is limited to the positions identified in the bill. It does not include any additional costs that may result from other positions that may get pushed higher as lower positions move up in pay.
This bill also authorizes the Governor to adjust the salaries of unclassified law enforcement positions in the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Department of Marine Resources whose salaries are subject to the Governor's adjustment or approval. This cost cannot be estimated at this time.
