This bill requires
the Department of Health and Human Services to submit an application for a
MaineCare waiver to provide transportation services to veterans who are
eligible for the MaineCare program but also receive health care benefits from
the United States Department of Veterans Affairs at the hospital located at
Togus or affiliated community-based outpatient clinics. For current MaineCare
members the brokers are receiving a capitated per member per month payment
that is intended to cover the costs of transporting eligible members. The
changes required in this bill could impact these capitated rates in the
future if there is a substantial increase in rides. It is not currently known
how much of an impact these additional rides could have and, therefore, a
fiscal impact cannot be determined at this time. |
