Requiring the
University of Maine System, the Maine Community College System and Maine
Maritime Academy, when entering into contracts for heating fuel, to give
preference to companies in the State that produce that type of heating fuel
may result in increased costs to these higher educational institutions. The
intent of the bill is that it not apply to users of types of fuel that are
not produced in Maine. The cost will depend on the actual prices negotiated
under this requirement versus the prices that could have been obtained had
this requirement not been in place. |
