Fiscal Detail and Notes
The total General Fund cost of the bill is $687,095 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $789,055 in fiscal year 2016-17. The Judicial Department will require General Fund appropriations of $363,189 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $352,162 in fiscal year 2016-17 for additional staff to respond to an increase in procedures involving preliminary protection orders.  The Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services will require General Fund appropriations of $24,723 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $32,964 in fiscal year 2016-17. The Department of the Attorney General will require Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $410,157 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $535,075 in fiscal year 2016-17. The Department of Health and Human Services will require General Fund appropriations of $299,183 in fiscal year 2015-16 and $403,929 in fiscal year 2016-17 for 4 new Assistant Attorney General positions and one Secretary Associate Legal position for the increased legal services required by the bill. DHHS will also require an additional Other Special Revenue Funds allocation for the federal match.
