The amendment
extends the date that a license must have been issued for a landfill from
September 1, 1989 to January 10, 1990 in order for the Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP) to pay 75% of closure costs for that landfill.
DEP estimates that at least one additional landfill would become eligible
with the extension. DEP will expend an estimated $365,600 for these closure
costs. This amendment includes Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of
$91,400 in each of fiscal years 2015-16 and 2016-17 for landfill closure
costs. All costs to the DEP will be funded from the Maine Solid Waste
Management Fund within DEP. The fund has sufficient resources to absorb these
costs. |
