An Act To Protect Maine Voters from Intimidating Videotaping at the Polls

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §681, sub-§4,  as amended by PL 2007, c. 455, §35, is further amended to read:

4. Outside the guardrail enclosure.   If sufficient space exists, party workers and others, in addition to the pollwatchers allowed pursuant to section 627, may remain in the voting place outside the guardrail enclosure as long as they do not attempt to influence voters or interfere with their free passage. If a person attempts to influence voters or interfere with their free passage, the warden shall have the person removed from the voting place. Videotaping in the voting place must be located outside the guardrail enclosure a minimum of 15 feet from a voter being videotaped, including a voter at a location where a person is collecting voters' signatures.

SUMMARY

This bill provides that videotaping in the voting place must be located outside the guardrail enclosure a minimum of 15 feet away from a voter being videotaped, including a voter at a location where a person is collecting voters' signatures.
