An Act To Preserve the Efficiency of Transportation Maintenance and Construction Activities
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §752, sub-§§1-A and 4-A are enacted to read:
1-A. Dynamic sign. "Dynamic sign" means an electronic sign capable of displaying a changing message.
4-A. Traffic beacon. "Traffic beacon" means a light used for traffic control.
Sec. 2. 35-A MRSA §761, sub-§4 is enacted to read:
4. Municipalities; state agencies. This chapter does not apply to an employee or independent contractor engaged on behalf of a municipality or state agency to maintain or install traffic signals, traffic beacons, dynamic signs or luminaires.

This bill provides an exemption from the Overhead High-voltage Line Safety Act to an employee or independent contractor engaged on behalf of a municipality or state agency to maintain or install traffic signals, traffic beacons, dynamic signs or luminaires within 10 feet of overhead high-voltage lines.
