An Act To Better Inform the Public of Election Results
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §695, sub-§3, as enacted by PL 1985, c. 161, §6, is amended to read:
3. Results declared. As soon as the ballots are counted, the warden shall declare the results publicly at the voting place and the municipal clerk shall post the results in a place accessible to the public so that they may be viewed when the municipal office is closed.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the municipal clerk, as soon as the ballots in an election are counted, to post the results in a place accessible to the public so that they may be viewed when the municipal office is closed.
