Amend the bill in section 1 in paragraph B in the 3rd line from the end (page 1, line 9 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " firearm" the following: ' and has completed a course that includes handgun safety offered by or under the supervision of a federal, state, county or municipal law enforcement agency or a firearms instructor certified by a private firearms association that is knowledgeable in matters of handgun safety"

Amend the bill in section 2 in paragraph A-1 in the last line (page 1, line 14 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: " firearm" the following: ' and has completed a course that includes handgun safety offered by or under the supervision of a federal, state, county or municipal law enforcement agency or a firearms instructor certified by a private firearms association that is knowledgeable in matters of handgun safety"

This amendment requires a person to complete a course in handgun safety in order to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.
