An Act To Allow a Person To Take a 20-minute Break from Monitoring Ice Fishing Lines
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §12659-A, sub-§3, as amended by PL 2005, c. 477, §18, is further amended to read:
3. Unattended lines. Except as provided in subsection 4, a person licensed to fish shall have all lines under that person's immediate supervision , except that the person may leave those lines unattended for up to 20 minutes every 2 hours.
A. A person who violates this subsection commits a civil violation for which a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500 may be adjudged.
B. A person who violates this subsection after having been adjudicated as having committed 3 or more civil violations under this Part within the previous 5-year period commits a Class E crime.
SUMMARY
This bill allows a person to leave that person's ice fishing lines unattended for up to 20 minutes every 2 hours.
