An Act To Prohibit the Selling of Humans
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §558 is enacted to read:
§ 558. Sale of human being
A person may not sell, convey or otherwise transfer the custody, control or care of a human being to another person in exchange for pecuniary gain or any other material benefit or consideration. A violation of this section is a Class C crime.
