An Act To Amend the Laws Governing Agriculture by Expanding the Powers of the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §21 is enacted to read:
§ 21. Acquisition and disposal of land
1. Acquisition of land. The commissioner may, in order to further the purposes of this Title:
A. Acquire in the name of the State, by gift, bequest or otherwise, real and personal property; and
B. Purchase or lease, for and on behalf of the State as for public uses, land and all materials in and upon it.
A plan of the land or rights acquired must be filed and recorded in the registry of deeds where the land or rights are located.
SUMMARY
This bill authorizes the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry to acquire, purchase and lease property for and on behalf of the State.
