An Act To Establish Maine's School Beverage Standards
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §6602, sub-§13 is enacted to read:
13. Beverages. A public school that participates in the National School Lunch Program may sell only the following beverages:
A. Water;
B. One hundred percent fruit or vegetable juice with no added sugar;
C. No-fat or low-fat milk, including flavored milk; and
D. Sparkling water with natural flavoring

This bill limits the beverages public schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program may sell to water, 100% fruit or vegetable juice with no added sugar, no-fat or low-fat milk, including flavored milk and sparkling water with natural flavoring.
