An Act To Provide an Incentive to Nonresident Landowners Who Own More than 250 Acres To Keep That Land Open for Hunting
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10853, sub-§17 is enacted to read:
17. Nonresidents who keep land open for hunting. The commissioner may issue, upon application, any hunting or fishing license at a reduced rate to a nonresident who owns more than 250 acres of land in this State and keeps that land open for hunting. The commissioner may adopt rules, which are routine technical rules under Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A, to implement this subsection.
SUMMARY
This bill authorizes the Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to issue any hunting or fishing license at a reduced rate to a nonresident who owns more than 250 acres of land in this State and keeps that land open for hunting.
