An Act To Assist Individuals To Obtain a Permit To Grow and Sell Water Spinach

Sec. 1. 7 MRSA c. 417  is enacted to read:

WATER SPINACH

§ 2431.  Information on water spinach permitting

The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry shall provide information about the proper process for obtaining a permit from the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service to individuals seeking to grow and sell Ipomoea aquatica Forssk, commonly referred to as water spinach.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry to provide information about the proper process for obtaining a federal permit to individuals seeking to grow and sell water spinach in Maine.
