Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §1601, sub-§5, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 and affected by Pt. B, §5, is amended to read:

This amendment is one of 2 minority reports of the committee. This amendment replaces the bill, which concerns the failure to carry proof of motor vehicle financial responsibility. The amendment increases the minimum fine for failure to maintain financial responsibility from $100 to $250 and increases the maximum fine from $500 to $700.
