An Act To Prohibit Flying over Land with Drones without Written Permission from the Landowner
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17 MRSA §3861 is enacted to read:
§ 3861. Trespass by unmanned aerial vehicle; civil violation
1. Violation. A person may not operate an unmanned aerial vehicle over the land of another without written permission from the landowner.
2. Penalty. A person who violates subsection 1 commits a civil violation for which a fine of not less than $500 must be adjudged.
SUMMARY
This bill makes operating an unmanned aerial vehicle over the land of another without written permission of the landowner a civil trespass punishable by a fine of not less than $500.
