‘Resolve, Directing Certain Health Care Practitioner Licensing Boards To Notify Licensees of Consequences of Using Nontraditional Treatment Methods’

Amend the bill by striking out everything after the title and before the summary and inserting the following:

Sec. 1. Lyme disease; notification to licensees. Resolved: That, by December 31, 2015, the Board of Licensure in Medicine, Board of Osteopathic Licensure and the State Board of Nursing shall notify their respective licensees that using nontraditional treatments for diseases, including Lyme disease, will not result in disciplinary action based solely upon the use of nontraditional treatment as long as the medical decision-making, the monitoring of the patient's reaction to the specific treatment and the patient's informed consent to the specific treatment are documented in the patient's medical record.’

This amendment is the minority report of the committee. It replaces the bill with a resolve that directs the Board of Licensure in Medicine, Board of Osteopathic Licensure and the State Board of Nursing to notify their respective licensees that using nontraditional treatments for diseases, including Lyme disease, will not result in disciplinary action based solely upon the use of nontraditional treatment as long as the medical decision-making, the monitoring of the patient's reaction to the specific treatment and the patient's informed consent to the specific treatment are documented in the patient's medical record.
