An Act To Control Fireworks in Monhegan Island Plantation
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 8 MRSA §238 is enacted to read:
§ 238. Monhegan Island Plantation
1. Consumer fireworks. A person may not use consumer fireworks at any time in Monhegan Island Plantation, except on July 4th between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. A person who violates this paragraph commits a civil violation for which a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $2,500 may be adjudged, plus attorney's fees and costs.
2. Fireworks; display inspection. The Monhegan Island Plantation fire safety official shall inspect the proposed site of a display for which a permit application has been made pursuant to section 227-A at the time the department conducts its inspection.
