An Act To Appropriate Funds to Kennebec Valley Community College for its Programs in Allied Health
Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and
Whereas, Kennebec Valley Community College currently offers programs in a number of allied health professions; and
Whereas, the Allied Health Department of Kennebec Valley Community College is currently experiencing a budgetary shortfall; and
Whereas, additional funds are needed to support the continuation of the allied health programs being offered at Kennebec Valley Community College, beginning in the spring of 2015 as well as in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years; and
Whereas, the elimination of the programs in Allied Health at Kennebec Valley Community College would reduce the number of programs in the central Maine area that provide the skills and training necessary for a career in the health care industry; and
Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore,
Sec. 1. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.
