An Act To Provide a Waiver of Short-term Camping Fees at State-owned Parks, Camping Areas and Beaches for Members of Federally Recognized Indian Tribes in the State

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §1819,  as amended by PL 2013, c. 1, Pt. J, §1 and c. 405, Pt. A, §24, is further amended by adding at the end a new paragraph to read:

A member of a federally recognized Indian tribe in the State, as well as any family member of the tribal member who is with the tribal member, may camp once a year at any one state-owned park, camping area or beach for one overnight stay without having to pay a camping fee.

SUMMARY

This bill waives camping fees for the once-a-year, overnight stay of a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe in the State, as well as any family member of the tribal member who is with the tribal member, at any one state-owned park, camping area or beach.
