Resolve, Directing the Department of Health and Human Services To Provide Coverage under the MaineCare Program for Routine Male Newborn Circumcisions

Sec. 1. MaineCare reimbursement for male newborn circumcisions. Resolved: That, by January 1, 2016, the Department of Health and Human Services shall amend its Rule Chapter 101, MaineCare Benefits Manual, Chapter II, Section 90 to provide for reimbursement for routine male newborn circumcisions. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This resolve directs the Department of Health and Human Services to amend its MaineCare rules to provide for coverage for routine male newborn circumcisions rather than only for those considered medically necessary under existing rules.
