Amend the amendment in section 3 in paragraph R in the first line (page 1, line 32 in amendment) by inserting after the following: " rinse" the following: ' under protocols developed by the board as long as the independent practice dental hygienist has a written agreement with a licensed dentist'

Amend the amendment in section 5 in subsection 10 in the last line (page 2, line 8 in amendment) by inserting after the following: " fluoride" the following: ' , under protocols developed by the board as long as the dental hygiene therapist has a written agreement with a licensed dentist'

Amend the amendment in section 6 in §1098-E in the first paragraph in the 7th line (page 2, line 20 in amendment) by inserting after the following: " rinse" the following: ' under protocols developed by the board as long as the dental hygienist with public health supervision status has a written agreement with a licensed dentist'

Amend the amendment in section 7 in §1098-F in the first paragraph in the last line (page 2, line 27 in amendment) by inserting after the following: " rinse" the following: ' under protocols developed by the board as long as the dental hygienist has a written agreement with a licensed dentist'

SUMMARY

Committee Amendment "A" allows dental hygienists, dental hygienists with public health supervision status, independent practice dental hygienists and dental hygiene therapists to prescribe, dispense or administer fluoride dentifrice and antibacterial rinse. This amendment requires the prescription, dispensation or administration of these substances to occur under protocols developed by the Board of Dental Examiners and requires a dental hygienist, dental hygienist with public health supervision status, independent practice dental hygienist or dental hygiene therapist to have a written agreement with a licensed dentist in order to prescribe, dispense or administer these substances.
