An Act To Amend the Laws Regarding Signs on Interstate Highways in Maine
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §1912-C, sub-§5, ¶¶F and G, as enacted by PL 2013, c. 549, §3, are amended to read:
F. A transportation facility if signs for the facility significantly benefit the transportation system; and
G. A veterans, police or firefighters memorial that is located within 20 miles of an exit . ; and
Sec. 2. 23 MRSA §1912-C, sub-§5, ¶H is enacted to read:
H. A cultural destination or historic destination that is located within 10 miles of an exit if that cultural destination or historic destination had a sign prior to August 1, 2014. For the purposes of this paragraph, "historic destination" includes but is not limited to a destination listed on the National Register of Historic Places or listed as a national historic landmark and "cultural destination" includes but is not limited to a museum.

This bill allows for directional signs on interstate highways in Maine for a destination that is within 10 miles of the highway if the destination is cultural or historic and had a sign on those roads prior to August 1, 2014.
