The bill
increases the E-9-1-1 surcharge from the current level of $.45 per line or
number or for prepaid wireless per transaction to $.65 effective July 1,
2012. It then reduces the E-9-1-1
surcharge to $.40 per line or number or for prepaid wireless per transaction
effective January 1, 2014. The change
in surcharge will increase Other Special Revenue Funds revenue by $3,785,230
in FY 2012-13 and $1,419, 461 in FY 2013-14 and decrease Other Special
Revenue Funds revenue by $946,308 in FY 2014-15. The bill includes an allocation of
$3,785,230 to the Emergency Services Comunications Bureau in the Public
Utilities Commission for the E-9-1-1 program.
Additional costs to the Public Utilities Commission associated with
this surcharge and other administrative duties can be absorbed within
existing budgeted resources. |
