The requirement
that the Judicial Department contract with a county to compensate the county
for the salary of qualified deputy sheriffs if the county elects to provide
its own court security services will increase the costs of security services
the Judicial Department currently supports.
If this limitation resulted in a 5% or a 10% increase in cost, an
additional annual General Fund appropriation of $75,000 or $150,000,
respectively, would be required. It
would also likely increase the costs to the Judicial Department to recruit
and train new Marshalls. The exact
amount required to support these additional costs will depend on how many and
which counties decide to provide their own court security. |
