Requiring
the State Tax Assessor to waive penalties imposed on ratepayers for failing
to file income tax returns or failing to pay income taxes if the ratepayer is
unemployed and can furnish proof of that status is anticipated to result in
significant ongoing revenue reductions to the General Fund starting in fiscal
year 2011-12. Maine Revenue Service
states that the amount of the revenue reductions cannot be known until
certain terms of the bill have been clarified. |
