This legislation transfers the jurisdiction over traffic infractions from the District Court to the Secretary of State effective January 1, 2014. A study completed in December 2009 indicated a cost related to this transfer of $947,000 annually. Additional costs to the Judicial Department and the Department of Secretary of State associated with developing recommendations and legislation necessary to implement the transfer of authority can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
