Sec. 3. 5 MRSA §1742, sub-§28 is enacted to read:
Sec. 4. Prequalification and renewal process. The Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of General Services shall adopt, by January 1, 2012, a process to prequalify and renew the prequalification of contractors bidding on public improvement projects on an annual basis that is the same as the prequalification process used by the Department of Transportation under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 23, chapter 410 for bidders for contracts for transportation infrastructure projects.

This bill directs the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of General Services to adopt the same annual contractor prequalification process as the Department of Transportation by January 1, 2012. It also directs the Bureau of General Services to adopt the same renewal prequalification process as the Department of Transportation.
