An Act To Improve Efficiency and Compliance within the Judicial System
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 4 MRSA §164, sub-§12, ¶B, as repealed and replaced by PL 1991, c. 549, §3 and affected by §17, is amended to read:
B. The Chief Judge by order, which may from time to time be amended, shall designate the amount of fines imposed for traffic infractions. If payment in full of a fine imposed for a traffic infraction is received by the violations bureau within the 20-day period immediately after the Violation Summons and Complaint has been served, the fine must be reduced by 10%.
SUMMARY
This bill provides that if a fine imposed for a traffic infraction is paid in full and received by the judicial branch's violations bureau within the 20-day period immediately after the Violation Summons and Complaint has been served, the fine must be reduced by 10%.
