An Act To Exempt from the Prohibition against Text Messaging While Driving Emergency Personnel Who Are Acting in the Course of Their Duties
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2119, sub-§4 is enacted to read:
4. Exemption. This section does not apply to a person who is an emergency medical services' person as defined in Title 32, section 83, subsection 12, a firefighter as defined in Title 25, section 1611, subsection 4 or a law enforcement officer as defined in Title 25, section 3701, subsection 3 while that person is acting in the course of that person's duties as an emergency medical services' person, firefighter or law enforcement officer.
