An Act To Eliminate the Waiting Period before Insurance Adjusters May Offer Adjustment Services
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §1476, sub-§1, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 592, §43, is repealed.
Sec. 2. 24-A MRSA §1476, sub-§2, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 592, §43, is amended to read:
2. Contract provision. Any such An adjustment services contract must contain a provision, prominently printed on the first page of the contract, stating that the person contracting with the adjuster has the option to rescind the contract within 2 business days after the contract is signed.

This bill repeals the provision of law that prohibits an insurance adjuster from soliciting or offering adjustment services to a person for at least 36 hours after an accident or occurrence for which that person may have a claim.
