Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:

‘Sec. 1. 10 MRSA §9724, sub-§4-A  is enacted to read:

4-A.  Exemption; municipal option.   A municipality may exempt from the requirement of the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code any remodeling or additions to existing single-family residential buildings, if the original building was built prior to December 1, 2010.

SUMMARY

This amendment strikes Committee Amendment "A" and the bill and replaces them with language that gives municipalities the option to exempt from the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code any residential remodeling or additions on single-family residential buildings constructed prior to December 1, 2010.
